The competition is part of the national convention of 100 Black Men of America, Inc. In March, students earn the right to compete on the national level by winning their local chapters’ competition. There are chapters in each state.

Twenty teams competed in the preliminary rounds to advance towards the Final Competition. These teams were derived of seven (7) Junior Division teams and 13 Senior Division teams. Only the final four (4) Junior and Senior Division teams from the Preliminary Rounds advanced to compete
